Ophelia's Ghost
Commissioned by Altered, Contemporary Art in Ancient Churches, Ophelia‘s Ghost is an installation featuring a holographic projection of a drowning woman into water. Shakespeare‘s tragic character Ophelia, a young woman who drowned herself, has inspired many strikingly beautiful paintings and images. In this piece the water surface of an old basin is used as a canvas for the haunting hologram of Ophelia‘s ghost submerged under the water‘s surface.
The piece was first exhibited in September 2014 at St. John the Baptist Church in Colsterworth, England. Ophelia‘s Ghost is one of three projection mapping installations depicting tragic female characters. Together with The Haunted Dress and The Alien Angel it forms the The Ephemera Trilogy.
